The Project

The FIMIP project is a study project financed by the INTERACT programme, which overarches all current INTERREG programmes throughout Europe and facilitates these programmes with support.

In the needs assessment of the INTERACT programme one of the issues identified was clearly related to the financial management of INTERREG projects. The financial management of (sometimes) huge international projects with (sometimes many) international partners appears to be very complex and sometimes very problematic in practice. The partnership of this project recognized this as well and also recognized that financial management and project management are always interrelated.

The Activities

The overall objective of the FIMIP project is therefore to improve the project and financial management (and thus the performance) of running and future INTERREG projects. To achieve this, three goals need to be achieved:

  • Identification of problems related to project management and financial management in particular
  • Identification of solutions, best practices and tools for project management and financial management
  • Providing advice to programme authorities, as far as the results indicate that structural measures are helpful to the problems identified.

You may follow the link http://www.interact-eu.net/4098/4115/667346/0 for more information about the project.

Since the project is a study project, the main activities within the project are study activities, which are coordinated by the International Study Group who designs the study and the questionnaires. The interviews held are a combination of face-to-face interviews and interviews via email and telephone.
